One of my fave beauty and fashion blogs is giving away 15ml tubes of the Black and Silver Label, as well as a few samples of the much coveted BB cream.

Dr. Jart in Silver and Black Labels

If I were to choose, I’d pick the Silver label because of its higher SPF. I am often out and I need the extra protection. It’s Dr. Jart, everyone! It screams SKIN LOVE!
Anyhoo, to join this contest, you must do the following:

26 years of lies

It was almost unreal.

During our recent trip to Tagaytay, I met this lovely momma. She’s in her 50’s already. Fine lines and wrinkles were a bit evident in her face- the marks of being aged gracefully, I should say. She dressed better than the other mothers and she spoke differently as well.

As she filled out the registration form, she turned to me and asked whether she can answer “I don’t know” to the part which asked for the husband’s occupation. Believe me, I’ve met a lot of “mrs.” with dysfunctional families and off-the-cliff marriages but nothing prepared me for her story.

While her mother was in the death bed, she pleaded for her to gather information regarding her husband. Although she was a bit baffled and anxious, she already knew that something was being “kept.” She hired investigators from the NBI and was delivered the shock of her life. Twenty-six years into their marriage, she found out that her husband- a pastor, has five wives/ girlfriends. And just like that, the seemingly “venerated” pastor turned into a monster. As she confronted her husband, he immediately turned into a someone she’s never known before. He said painful and disgusting things like, “Next time, I’ll try a man for a change” and “I’ll run naked and burn the Bible.”

I was speechless as she shared the story. “Crazy prick,” I told myself. And just as I thought I had the surprise of the day already, she went on and told me that she’s still in the marriage and that her husband is actually with some Arabian dudes…and blahblah*here’s the part where I felt dizzy and didn’t get anything*

I’m still processing it right now. Maybe, it will be very easy for me to say that what her husband did was soo crazy and that staying in the marriage is way beyond that. It will be easy for me to judge. But I’m not in the position to do that. So, yeah, while I continue to process the craziness, I’ll be praying that this momma gets through and rise above it.

She’s in the Big Blue Sky

I never really knew her. My dad says that the shopaholic inside us came from her.  Some people say that it’s the charm and flair. Others pinpoint the love for books and education.

She used to be an educator- a stylish one, at that. I often hear stories of how mataray she was and how she fought for her beliefs. They say that she’s kindhearted and beautiful. It is an honor when people compare the two of us.

When she succumbed to Cancer three months after my birth, there were a lot of pain left and questions unanswered. I think that some of the people closest to her still bear that pain.

I think that there will be a party filled with pretty things had she been alive. I only saw her through pictures, cards and little notes here and there. I wish I had a chance to get to know her. I would have loved her to see me grow up.

For Gloria De Borja Arcangel, my grandmother. Happy Birthday.

Superheroes need someone, too.

There was a time when I had to take care of myself and give way to my dreams more than how I really should. It was because of an uncontrollable situation which people didn’t get a chance to fully understand. It appeared to be a selfish act when it really was done for self-preservation- a very sensitive topic which cannot be handled by immature minds. I kept my guards up- way up, and because of this, I didn’t give other people a chance to get in or I let people down that they actually want out.

Things got better after a very long haul. By this time, I promised to be a better person/ friend to others. I tried to keep a small inner circle but still remained sociable and friendly.

Now, I can say that I go the extra mile for people. But then in the past couple of weeks, when there were little troubles or hassles, I realized that there were, maybe, one or two people who really go the extra mile for me and that in the end, it’s always my mum or my dad who I can really turn to. It’s starting to frustrate me. Eventhough I have this superhero complex, well, this just in: I AM STILL HUMAN…and humans get tired, too.

Mushy over Puck

Michi’s Facebook Status: is addicted to Puck’s version of “Sweet Caroline.”

I know, I know. Glee’s season 2 will start soon but I still can’t get over “Mash-up.” I kinda like Puck and Rachel together. 🙂 I was all smiles when Puck started singing Neil Diamond’s “Sweet Caroline” as a tribute to Rachel. How I wish I’d have my own Puck, too! Well, maybe a less promiscuous one. 😉

Mark Salling is just so perfect for the role. Oh, Noah Puckerman!

Sweet 😉

Sweet Caroline

Where it began, I can’t begin to know when
But then I know it’s growing strong
Oh, wasn’t the spring, whooo
And spring became the summer
Who’d believe you’d come along

Hands, touching hands, reaching out
Touching me, touching you
Oh, sweet Caroline
Good times never seem so good
I’ve been inclined to believe it never would

And now I, I look at the night, whooo
And it don’t seem so lonely
We fill it up with only two, oh
And when I hurt
Hurting runs off my shoulder
How can I hurt when holding you

Oh, one, touching one, reaching out
Touching me, touching you
Oh, sweet Caroline
Good times never seem so good
Oh I’ve been inclined to believe it never would

Ohhh, sweet Caroline, good times never seem so good
