Yesterday, I chanced upon a Mexican movie entitled “La Misma Luna” or “Under the Same Moon.”
The story revolves around a boy named Carlitos who travels to America in order to find his mother. On his journey across the border, he found other illegal aliens like him who are working their asses off in search for a better life.
You do not have to be a Mexican to appreciate the film. What I love about the movie is that it feels so real. It’s a heartwarming story of love, sacrifice and family. It also shows the day-to-day ordeal that the illegal immigrants go through. I also love the fact that during the little boy’s search for his mother, the story presented different characters whose lives are somehow entwined, one way or another.
